LOCATION: Kirrawee, Sutherland Shire NSW
STATUS: Completed 2020
DESCRIPTION
A detached Dual occupancy development took advantage of a 768m² corner lot in a quite leafy part of Kirrawee a suburb in the Sutherland Shire area. The design aimed to utilise the maximum allowable built area while maintaining the privacy of the occupants and surrounding properties.
The challenge was to design two equally sized Torrens title homes while accommodating the strict planning controls of the Sutherland council in terms of setbacks, first floor size of the rear dwelling and the existing native trees.
The contemporary themes utilised a mix of materials including dark brick, white expressed joints modular cladding and timber features. The variations of one and two storey elements and the breakup of the building bulk ensured generous light access to all living spaces. The skillion low-pitched rooflines along with external walls profiles formed unique silhouettes that became uniting themes for both buildings.
